The Little Free Library is a network of free, donation-based micro-libraries run by members of the community. A team of five developers and I built a prototype of an online book catalog so community members can easily explore what books are available in their neighborhood.
The Little Free Library is a great resource for families and kids looking to read more books that not a lot of people know about. My team wanted to raise awareness of the Little Free Library and give more access to communities in need.
Our goal was to create a way for everyone to find and enjoy books they love nearby, no matter where they live.
The project timeline was tight–just a weekend, in fact. This project was part of Hack the Gap, a local women’s only hackathon based in St Paul.
To get started, my team got together to whiteboard the key moments in the experience.
From there, I worked on kicking out more detailed wireframes while the rest of my team worked on setting up their environments and deciding on a technical strategy.

The design process was a fun challenge that required us to build and design at the same time. Check out my article on the topic over on Clockwork’s blog.
